Idea's for the Holidays: Accessories and Gear

To go along with the surfboards in the last post, time to move to other things that can go along with your board and items for everyday use.

First, gear to go with surfing, Fins, Traction Pads, Leashes and Wax.  Tons of things out there for you.  Almost every brand now has some sort of eco-friendly line.  On A Mission has a full line of "E.C.O." environmentally-friendly products.  Their traction pads made from recycled and cork-material.  Surfers such as Bede and Joel Centeio use these models.  Different material, but still last.  They also have wax that is eco-friendly.  Other companies like Famous and Wavetribe offer similar products.

A lot of companies are starting to produce eco-friendly fins for your board.  FCS, Rainbow and Futures are leading the pack.  All three use bamboo technology.  Rob Machado seems to be the ambassador for environmental awareness to the surf industry.  Futures and Rob collaborated to make their version of an eco-friendly fin.  FCS has incorporated bamboo into their waves and Rainbow uses it in theirs as well.  I can't wait to get a hold of a set.

Aside from surf products, apparel and other accessories like watches and sunglasses are available too.  Nixon is a personal favorite brand of watches to me.  I recently found out that they have come out with watches that use solar power and recycled materials.  Their models the Volta, Automatic Capital and Mellor are a few of the ones that offer eco-friendliness.

Sunglasses are things everyone likes.  All of the companies are starting to put out sunglasses that are good for the environment.  Dragon (who sponsors Rob) has a huge Eco line.  Rob is everywhere!  Oakley is also starting to do the same.

So here are a few more things to take into consideration.  I wish I was able to get all of these. All are great, quality products that are cool looking and help the environment in some way.  Go to your nearest surf shop, Heritage in NJ has some of these things, and get your hands on them!
